Hedge Fund Programme launches in Singapore

Thursday, September 01, 2016
Opalesque Industry Update - Inflection Point Intelligence, in collaboration with Henley Business School, will launch the Hedge Fund Programme in Singapore. The programme is sponsored by Swiss-Asia Financial Services (Swiss-Asia) and the first intake of 25 qualified services professionals will commence 15 October 2016.

With workshops conducted by well-respected industry figures, participants can look forward to practical, hands-on advice over a six month period. In the long run, this is set to grow Asia’s hedge fund community as more fund managers set up shop in Hong Kong, Singapore and Tokyo.

3. Grows hedge fund community in Asia

4. Networking opportunities with hedge fund community in Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.

Anna Stephenson, Programme Advisor and Partner of Inflection Point Intelligence Ltd says, “We found that many in the hedge fund community only knew their own area of expertise. Often, a lawyer might not appreciate fund administration and in turn, these administrators might not know about capital introduction.

Universities typically emphasise portfolio and risk management, and are ill-equipped to explain how the various components interact to make hedge funds successful. With that in mind, we designed a well-rounded, holistic programme for participants to broaden their practical knowledge and approach the hedge fund business from different perspectives.”

The programme offers a blend of modules and workshops to address pitch book formative, investor relations, compliance and fund-pitching, just to name a few.

Mr. Steve Knabl, Chief Operating Officer and Managing Partner at Swiss-Asia said, “Swiss-Asia is committed to helping start-up fund managers succeed, and this can only be done by educating the wider community. We are glad to sponsor the Hedge Fund Programme in Singapore, and look forward to growing talent pools together with Henley Business School and Inflection Point Intelligence.”

With extensive networks and experience in Asia, Swiss-Asia brings a line-up of respected industry figures to the programme in Singapore. These include Roshan Padmadan, Fund Manager of Luminance Global Fund at Swiss-Asia; Karim Mrani Alaoui, Chief Investment Officer at a single family office, and Misha Graboi, Chief Executive Officer of PAAMCO Asia Pacific and PAAMCO’s global Sector Specialist for convertible bond hedging.

Participants will also be assessed by a final group project, simulating the setting up of a hedge fund. This will be presented to a panel of industry experts in Asia, before they are successfully awarded with a professional certificate of completion.

Besides its first run in Singapore, the Hedge Fund Programme will also be conducted in Hong Kong and Tokyo this September and November respectively. Applicants with a keen interest in the hedge fund industry, a good bachelor degree and three years’ relevant experience in financial services are encouraged to participate.

Following its success in Hong Kong, the world-class Hedge Fund Programme will be launched in Singapore in October 2016. Developed and managed by Inflection Point Intelligence Ltd, it is designed specifically for professionals within the financial services industry, providing a holistic, hands-on real-practice understanding of hedge funds.
