Morgan Stanley to launch new UCITS fund that offers exposure to IPM Systematic Macro Strategy

Wednesday, August 19, 2015
Opalesque Industry Update - Morgan Stanley has launched a new fund, the IPM Systematic Macro UCITS Fund, under its FundLogic Alternatives plc umbrella. The Fund provides exposure to IPM’s Systematic Macro strategy, which is based on IPM’s proprietary investment models that provide unique insights into how fundamental drivers interact with the dynamics of asset price returns.

The FundLogic Alternatives Platform currently has more than $2.6bn in assets under management (as of 31 July 2015) and this latest addition expands Morgan Stanley’s offering of global macro strategies.

“We are delighted to announce the launch of the IPM Systematic Macro UCITS Fund”, said Stephane Berthet, Head of the FundLogic Alternatives Platform at Morgan Stanley. He added: “IPM’s investment strategy has consistently delivered top quartile strong and robust risk-adjusted returns with low correlation to broad equity and bond markets. We believe it will complement our current offering by providing access to a global macro strategy with a systematic approach.”

Commenting on the launch, Lars Ericsson, Partner and responsible for client relationships at IPM said: “We are excited to work with Morgan Stanley. Through their FundLogic platform, UCITS investors can get exposure to our strategy in a very efficient way.”

Serge Houles, Head of Investment Strategy at IPM further added: “Ultimately, a very large group of European investors will now be able to access our Systematic Macro strategy, managed pari passu to the flagship strategy, previously only available in our offshore or QIF vehicles.”

FundLogic is the brand name for Morgan Stanley’s fund solutions platform launched in 2006. It offers both UCITS and non-UCITS funds. FundLogic, being part of Morgan Stanley’s Multi Asset Platform, delivers fund solutions to clients by combining the financial expertise, innovation and resources of Morgan Stanley, and offers a range of products including passive index funds, structured funds and the third party manager-UCITS funds. It currently has more than $5.2bn in assets under management as of 31 July 2015 and, with this latest addition, now offers UCITS investors a diversified range of 18 funds.
