New Mountain Vantage launches US equity long/short UCITS on Montlake platform

Wednesday, July 08, 2015
Opalesque Industry Update - New Mountain Vantage Advisors, L.L.C., has launched a US equity long/short fund on the MontLake UCITS platform.

MontLake is a leading independent platform for UCITS funds that provides investors with access to a range of liquid, transparent and regulated investment products domiciled in Dublin. New Mountain Vantage is an affiliate of New Mountain Capital, L.L.C (“NMC”), a New York-based asset management firm with aggregate assets under management totalling more than $15 billion*.

New Mountain Vantage, founded in 2006, currently manages approximately $2.9 billion across U.S. long/short and benchmarked/long-only funds. The investment strategy is predominantly focused on bottom-up research, concentrating on mid and large-cap US companies.

The New Mountain Vantage team has significant experience in sourcing attractive investment opportunities through deep fundamental research in “defensive growth” areas of the economy. The team is supported by the broader NMC organization founded by Steven Klinsky in 1999. NMC’s underlying industry knowledge and substantial institutional infrastructure provides differentiated idea-sourcing capabilities and creates a competitive edge.

Speaking today, Dan Riley, Portfolio Manager of New Mountain Vantage said: “We are delighted to offer UCITS investors the opportunity to access our US equity long/short strategy. We believe our investment approach is well suited to the UCITS structure and look forward to working with investors in the region.”

Cyril Delamare, CEO of ML Capital commented: “We are thrilled to be partnering with New Mountain Vantage. Their unique investment process coupled with a strong track record with US equities makes them appealing as a diversifier from an investor’s point of view. There is currently a limited selection of quality US long/short equity strategies in UCITS and our investor base welcomes the new entrant. The New Mountain Vantage Fund is a great addition to the UCITS universe and we look forward to growing this product.”

NMC and its affiliated investment advisers have approximately 60 investment professionals that manage investment portfolios of greater than $15 billion1 in capital across public equity, private equity and credit strategies. NMC’s mission is to be best in class among alternative asset managers as measured by returns, control of risk, service to our investors and the quality of the businesses we build. All of NMC's efforts emphasize intensive fundamental research and a focus on growth and investor "value add” as the best path to high and consistent long term returns.

ML Capital is a forward looking and leading independent investment management firm specialising in European regulated fund structures. As an award winning platform provider, we partner with the very best of investment managers to bring to market the latest most appropriate fund structures to comply with the raft of incoming regulatory requirements, whilst meeting the ever increasing expectations of investors.
