Mr Dwyer brings extensive board, investment and superannuation sector experience to the role. He has held senior leadership and governance positions across major Australian financial services and public sector organisations, including Chair of NSW Treasury Corporation (TCorp) and former Chief Executive Officer of First State Super, now Aware Super.

The State Super Board and Acting Chair, Catherine Bolger, welcomed Mr Dwyer's appointment, noting his deep experience in governance, investment and organisational leadership will further strengthen the Board's oversight and strategic capability. Ms Bolger said "We extend a warm welcome to Michael. His invaluable skills and background will greatly enhance our commitment to acting in our members' best financial interests".

"Michael's appointment brings valuable expertise and perspective to the State Super Board," NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey said. "He demonstrated exceptional leadership through his stewardship of the TCorp Board and his experience in the superannuation sector makes him well-suited to contribute to State Super's objectives and strategic direction."

Mr Dwyer said he was pleased to join the State Super Board and looked forward to contributing to the organisation's ongoing performance and focus.

Mr Dwyer's appointment is effective from 1 September 2026.
