Clifford Chance: Staying above the water – a checklist

Monday, November 29, 2010
- Appoint and empower a financial sector reform tsar and steering committee – this will need serious resource

- Don’t treat this as a compliance project (yet) – it’s strategic

- Don’t look at the individual pieces of legislation in isolation – pick themes and get the subject teams to look at all the legislation relevant to them

- Watch what’s going on outside your own geographical patch – it may directly affect you, and in any case your regulator will pick up ideas from elsewhere

- Spot the opportunities – this may affect your clients and competitors as much as it affects you

- Remind the staff of their value –policy-makers notwithstanding, your organisation needs them

- Ensure the Government Relations team is kept abreast of the strategic decisions and focuses on the major-impact legislative measures – their resource needs to be targeted if they are not to be overwhelmed...Corporate website:Source
