Tommy Gilbert's former girlfriend says he was 'damaged’ by his father

Tommy Gilbert, the lone suspect in the killing of Thomas Gilbert Sr., on Jan. 3 in a posh New York apartment, has been "damaged" by his father and had endured a "lifetime of pain," said his former girlfriend, Anna Rothschild.

Rothschild, who dated the 30-year-old Tommy after meeting him at a mutual friend's birthday dinner in December 2013 before breaking up with him in May, said she was "shocked" and felt "very sad" when she heard that her ex-boyfriend was accused of murdering his own father, reported ABS News. She was quoted as saying, "I never could foresee that he would be violent. He was never even angry. He was always quite even-tempered."

She said that while they were still dating, Tommy confided to her that he felt like a disappointment to his father. She went on to say, "His father was never happy with anything he did or nothing was ever good enough.

The 70-year-old Thomas Gilbert Sr., the founder and managing member of the $200m hedge fund firm Wainscott Capital Partners, was found dead with a single gunshot wound last Sunday afternoon in his apartment on Manhattan's East Side.
