07.09.2011 - Thailand: Wealth fund idea back to the drawer
The government is delaying plans for a sovereign wealth fund that would invest in infrastructure projects abroad, saying the matter is not urgent. The idea for the fund emerged after Finance Minister Thirachai Phuvanatnaranubala asked the central bank to consider ways to use some of its foreign reserves in Asean ventures. Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said further study of relevant laws would be needed before the plan could proceed."The government has no plans at present to amend Bank of Thailand laws to pave the way for such a fund," she said..............................................Full Article: Source
