| Morgan Stanley's Kimberley Hatchett, once an Olympic hopeful, uses alternative investments to help her clients over the market's hurdles. Hatchett is still putting money into high-yielding, large-cap U.S. stocks, and she's adding to positions in emerging markets, both equity and debt. She offsets some of the emerging-market volatility with managed futures.
But just 32% of her typical account is in stocks these days, with about 38% in fixed income -- more than half of that in munis.
