From Thepeninsulaqatar.com: A banking expert from Qatar was recently quoted by the Indian media as having said at an Indo-Arab conference that:" Islamic finance is not Islamic; it belongs to all of humanity." True. An increasing number of bankers and financial experts the world over are looking at the Islamic banking and financial system with renewed interest. Speakers at this conference, including Minister of State for External Affairs Shashi Tharoor, seemed in favour of introducing Islamic banking in India, a country with the third largest Muslim population in the world.
