Almost every strategy proved a loser in the dismal year that was, but a surprising result is that even though the commodity bubble burst hard, commodity fund managers managed to do okay. Commodity Trading Advisors, a subspecies of commodity fund created by a regulatory quirk, finished the year with an average return of about 14 per cent, while straight commodity hedge funds eked out a 3.8 per cent return.....
