Residents in Alaska have said they feel 'cheated' after their annual dividend payment was slashed by more than half to $1,022 per person. Each year, all locals receive the checks from the state's oil wealth fund as a reward for living in Alaska for at least a full calendar year. The Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) reached a peak amount of $2,072 in 2015.
