Rasheed Hassan, director of cross-border investment at Savills, said there had been an increase in private wealth flowing from the Middle East in addition to investment by institutions such as sovereign wealth funds. “We’re seeing a lot of enthusiasm from private investors from across the region, seeking income-generating deals in London and the UK regions,” he said. Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund meanwhile bought the Berkeley and Claridge’s hotels for more than £600m each in April.
