20.08.2008 - Asia markets struggle but Shanghai soars
From FT: A rebound in the price of oil to $115 a barrel helped commodity stocks across Asia Pacific on Wednesday, but losses among car makers and other industrial companies almost completely offset the gains. Shares in Shanghai rose by nearly six per cent as speculation grew that the government would support the market – which is Asia’s worst performer this year – after the Olympics. Overall the MSCI Asia Pacific Index was 0.1 per cent higher at 122.93 by late morning in Tokyo, after falling as much as 0.5 per cent earlier in the day..... Full Article: Source
