06.09.2012 - GCC's bond issuance falls 18.7 pct
The bond and sukuk market had a poor start to the year in the GCC with total issuance down by 18.7 per cent to $37.6 billion. The month of June predominated in terms of issuance frequency with 32 issues though May witnessed the highest value at $7.3bn, according to a report by the Kuwait Financial Centre, Markaz. The total amount outstanding of corporate and sovereign bonds issued by GCC entities has now reached $205.6bn. Corporate bonds make up the majority of the total amount outstanding with $138.3bn or 67.2pc of the total amount.
