The world biggest sovereign wealth fund's decision to ask top mining companies about the possibility of spinning off coal assets underscores increasing pressure on producers of the fossil fuel to prepare for a low-carbon future. Norges Bank Investment Management, managing Norway's $US900 billion ($1.13 trillion) fund, wrote to the biggest miners and "raised the question of spinning off coal mining," Chief Executive Officer Yngve Slyngstad told Norway's parliament Monday.
