10.03.2015 - Bain Said to Seek Up to $3 Billion for Asia Buyout Fund
Bain Capital, the firm co-founded by former U.S. presidential candidate Mitt Romney, plans to seek $2.5 billion to $3 billion for its third Asia fund after a surge in the volume of buyout deals in the region last year, three people with knowledge of the matter said. Global private equity firms have been raising billions of dollars to devote to Asia as funds amassed from 2005 and 2008 reach the end of their investment cycles. RRJ Capital, run by former executives of Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Temasek Holdings, is seeking as much as $4.5 billion for a pool that will mostly invest in China, a person briefed on the matter said this month.
