Legislators in various jurisdictions should be more directly involved in the global Islamic finance industry because without them not much can progress in terms of the drafting and adoption of enabling laws and guidelines, said Sir Chukwudi Jones V. Onyereri, Chairman of the Committee on Banking and Currency of the House of Representatives (Parliament) in Nigeria. "Yes we are one of the biggest stakeholders but I think the problem is that there is too much concentration on engaging largely with central banks and regulatory authorities.
