The European Commission's top climate official says a nationwide emissions trading scheme (ETS) to be rolled out in China next year could pave the way for a link-up to the EU system, taking a step towards an international carbon trading market. Further talks with other countries that could eventually become part of the system are scheduled for this week at the COP22 climate summit in Marrakesh.
