Adoption of the Paris climate accord could spur more action to limit fossil fuel use. It was one of the most curious moments in the run-up to the UN talks that sealed the landmark Paris climate change agreement last December. The chief executives of six large European oil companies, including BP and Royal Dutch Shell, declared that they hoped the negotiations would lead to “widespread carbon pricing in all countries”.
