The State Council, China’s cabinet, has issued a new climate plan that targets an 18-percent cut in carbon emissions by 2020 compared to level in 2015. The central government is said to have already drafted detailed measures to develop a low-carbon economy by 2050, with plans to unveil the measures soon. Also, China will set up a nationwide carbon trading platform, likely the world’s largest, which will help companies to trade their carbon emission quotas while saving energy and cutting costs.
