Imports by China overall were down in March year-on-year, but copper, soybeans and oil stood out as winners. China’s better than expected trade data for March drove prices of copper and other industrial metals higher Wednesday, though concerns continued to linger about excess supplies. The world’s second-largest economy imported 39% more copper in March than in the same month last year, China customs data showed.
