An Environment Ministry panel has reported in a recommendation that a carbon tax will be helpful in achieving the government’s 80 percent target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by 2050. The experts said in the report Saturday that the government should start making a full-fledged effort to achieve the goal and proposed introducing a carbon tax on emissions and an emissions trading scheme.
