13.01.2016 - Analysts cut EU CO2 price forecasts on lower coal, higher gas use
Analysts have cut their forecasts for European carbon prices on expectations that cheap gas will encourage more switching from coal, a Reuters quarterly poll showed on Tuesday. Front-year EU Allowance (EUA) futures are expected to average 9.02 euros ($9.79) this year, rising to 10.55 euros in 2018, according to the mean forecast of nine analysts. The forecasts were down 7.4 percent and 14.3 percent from forecasts of 9.74 euros and 12.31 euros respectively in the last poll published in October.
