The current El Nino weather event is unlikely to cause spikes in grain prices, the World Bank has claimed. El Nino, a phase of warm weather which can occur in parts of the Southern Hemisphere, has the potential to disrupt agricultural production and affect global supplies. But despite claims the current El Nino episode could be one of the strongest on record, a World Bank report published in recent days has stated this is unlikely to cause gains in global arable prices.
