By the end of the century 1,400 cities and towns could be submerged due to rising sea levels caused by climate change, according to a recent study. The impact of climate change is becoming more severe: ice caps are melting, water is becoming scarce in some places, many fish and animal species face extinction, and heat waves are becoming the norm. Though that is bad enough, many scientists think the worst is yet to come, with more extreme weather and the UN warning that the world’s food supply is at considerable risk. At Statoil we believe that one of the best ways to combat climate change is to ensure a cost on carbon pollution.
