Commodity funds provide good diversification with respect to the stock market. Over the past 5 years, the performances of commodity funds have significantly lagged the S&P 500. The funds UCI, RJI, and USCI have performed well in comparison to peers. Commodities are "real assets" that run the gamut from oil and precious metals to agriculture.
