In a year when almost all metals are falling, record car sales and mining strikes mean the best forecasters are favoring platinum over gold as investors lose faith in bullion as a store of value. Platinum prices that were lower than gold in April, when bullion entered a bear market, cost 11 percent more on July 15, the most in almost two years.
