03.07.2013 - EU carbon-trading vote looks close
A vote on salvaging the European Union's faltering carbon-trading program is expected to be close, although some officials believe the proposals will narrowly pass. On Wednesday, the European Parliament will vote on whether to delay the auction of emissions permits in order to raise the price of producing carbon dioxide. The measures are intended to reinvigorate financial incentives for shifting away from fossil fuels and toward renewable energy. The parliament shot down a similar plan in April.
