It may be hard to accept, given the yen’s recent sharp fall, but the Japanese unit remains in the eyes of many a haven currency. The dollar’s rise above Y100 is not just a function of Bank of Japan easing, but also the benign market of late. Bursts of angst can still see the yen gain ground.
