Clean energy investment in the first quarter of the year was at its weakest level since the global financial crisis, according to new figures from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF) that will raise fresh questions about the impact of policy uncertainty on green business confidence. The analyst firm reported that new financial investment in clean energy during the first three months of the year reached $27bn, down 28 per cent on the previous quarter and 22 per cent year on year.
