| Rising food prices threaten to add even more stress to Americans' budgets and even create instability in the United States and around the world, according to one analyst who studies the role of speculation in commodities markets.
Economist Yaneer Bar-Yam, who contributed to the New England Complex Systems Institute's study of food prices. Bar-Yam and his fellow researchers developed an economic model designed to incorporate speculators' actions in the marketplace.
