31.03.2011 - China starts carbon trading to reduce emissions
In Beijing China made a major step towards greater emissions reduction by conducting the first transaction under its own domestic "Panda Standard" for carbon trading. Franshion Properties, a leading Chinese real estate developer, bought 17,000 tons of carbon credit on the Beijing Environmental Exchange. Sources said the deal was worth about $150,000; funds which will go into a project for planting thousands of hectares of carbon-absorbing bamboo in the province of Yunnan.............................................Full Article: Source
