LAUNCHES: Lists of latest launches and ranking provided by BarclayHedge + press announcements

 

  • Former Paulson & Co partner Dan Kamensky's new firm, distressed investment-focused Marble Ridge Capital, launched on Jan. 4 with about $30 million. That came from Kamensky, a group of wealthy families and RMWC, a private firm led by Bain Capital co-founder Coleman Andrews, reports Reuters.
  • Chris Connor, a former partner at hedge fund JAT Capital Management, has launched his own fund, Ardmore Global Investors, which will specialize in picking global technology, media and telecommunications stocks. The fund started trading with $120m in assets and has committed capital of as much as $200m, according to Reuters.
  • Former Morgan Stanley banker Mark Bradley is trying to raise as much as $1bn for a new fund that buys minority positions in private-equity firms, according to WSJ.com. The fund, called GP Interests, is targeting positions of 25% or less in a number of private-equity firms and intends to pursue an initial public offering in about four years. Bradley was founding partner of Dean Bradley Osborne (DB), San Francisco-based investment-banking firm, for almost three years, before launching GP Interests in early 2015.
  • Manoj Narangleft Tradeworx, which he co-founded in 1999, last year and started a firm to meld HFT and hedge fund strategies, called Mana Partners. The fund will begin by focusing on "volatility arbitrage," he told Bloomberg.
