Clearbrook Global Advisors hires head of hedged index strategies

Wednesday, January 28, 2015
Opalesque Industry Update - Clearbrook Global Advisors, a privately held, independent investment advisory firm, today announced the appointment of Manit Rye as Managing Director and Head of Hedged Index Strategies. Mr. Rye will be based in the firm’s New York headquarters and report to Elliott Wislar, Chief Executive Officer of Clearbrook.

He will be responsible for managing and developing customized portfolio solutions for Clearbrook clients, utilizing actively managed options on broad market indices. The strategy is active and is currently implemented for institutional and family office client portfolios, which Mr. Rye will oversee in his role.

“At Clearbrook, we strategically add capabilities ahead of the evolving needs of our clients,” said Wislar. “Investors are increasingly concerned about preserving principal if equity markets dislocate, or rates rise unexpectedly. Hedged index strategies enable our clients to protect the portfolio gains they’ve earned while participating in the market upside.”

Mr. Rye comes to Clearbrook from Thomas Funds, LLC, a firm which he founded. Previously, he held Managing Director positions at Merrill Lynch Alternative Investments, Inc. and UBS in London. Before that he held Vice President roles at Goldman Sachs in New York and London and CitiBank in New York. In 1985, Mr. Rye co-founded Skye Investment Advisors in Cupertino, CA, a hedging and risk management consultancy to pension plans and financial institutions that he started with two professors from Stanford University.

A past guest lecturer on derivative trading at Harvard Business School and Columbia University, Mr. Rye has a joint Masters in Finance from Claremont Graduate School, CA and UC Berkeley and an undergraduate degree in commerce from Delhi University at Sri Ram College of Commerce, where he graduated with a first division.
