Singapore-based CTA launches feeder fund for U.S. investors

Tuesday, December 16, 2014
Opalesque Industry Update - Straits Financial Fund Management LLC, a commodity pool operator registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and a member of the National Futures Association, is pleased to announce today the launch of the Straits Financial Premier Fund I, L.P., which is the company's first managed pool offering for U.S. investors.

SFFM, together with other subsidiaries under Straits Financial Group, offers a wide range of services, including execution, brokerage, clearing and electronic trading, which provide clients with a gateway to trade at the world’s leading futures exchanges. SF Group is the brokering division of CWT Limited, one of the largest publicly-listed logistics companies in South East Asia.

SFFM created the U.S. Feeder Fund to provide an opportunity for U.S. institutional and other accredited investors to invest in a professionally managed futures fund. A parallel fund, the Straits Financial Premier (Offshore Feeder) Fund I, Ltd. is being offered to non-U.S. investors. Each Fund will conduct its investing through a Master Fund, the Straits Financial Premier Fund I, Ltd.

Offered in relatively small investing amounts, the Premier Fund I will enable investor participation in alternative investment strategies, which has been recognized as a component of a diversified and balanced investment portfolio. We believe that the Premier Fund I’s trading program will be uncorrelated to equities, bonds or other alternative investments and will allow exposure to liquid, transparent markets through an experienced, licensed commodity trading advisor.

"Offering the Premier Fund I is a natural next step for Straits," said Joseph Mazurek, SFFM’s President. "We believe that it meets the investing requirements of Straits' current customers, and it will be an attractive offering to the global community. We are pleased to now present this product."

Adds SF Group CEO Jeremy Ang, "Straits Financial Group offers exchange-cleared futures and other specialized investment products. Having a new offering like the Premier Fund I allows the Group to support our customers in their investment choices."
