Templar Capital to launch Patronus Mid-Cap Managed Futures Index

Wednesday, November 27, 2013
Opalesque Industry Update - Templar Capital Management, a leading provider of alternative investment solutions for institutional clientele, announces the launch of the Patronus Mid-Cap Managed Futures Index. The MMF Index is a fully investible CTA index that allocates its assets among a selection of “mid-sized” CTAs chosen according to rule-based criteria, the composite performance of which is intended to generate a “benchmark” return that is broadly representative of diversified managed futures trading.

The MMF Index is rather unique with respect to its construction relative to other investible CTA offerings, many of which are comprised of only the largest CTAs and are therefore dominated by financial futures exposures. Instead, the MMF Index allocates its assets among a selection of well known “mid-sized” CTAs that are typically more diverse in their exposures; as such, the Index targets an average aggregate exposure to the commodities markets of 30% to 45% (measured as a percentage of total margin to equity committed). To this end, the MMF Index is comprised of equal weights (adjusted for each manager’s volatility of returns over a rolling multi-year window) among the following trading advisors:

· Blackwater Capital Management LLC
· Drury Capital INC
· Dunn Capital Management LLC
· Estlander & Partners LTD
· John Locke Investments SA
· Mulvaney Capital Management Limited
· Northfield Trading LP
· NuWave Investment Management LLC
· Quantica Capital AG

The MMF Index offers daily liquidity within a cost effective structure (with the added feature of a netted incentive fee across all trading advisors), while also providing institutional investors with all of the benefits commonly associated with a managed account platform, including professional management, ongoing due diligence, third party oversight, and independent administration and audit. Furthermore, qualified investors will be able to access up-to-the-minute performance of the index in real-time via the Templar website www.templarcapital.ch).

While it is anticipated that the MMF Index will become the leading benchmark for diversified managed futures trading, capacity of the investible index will be limited to $1 billion.
