Asia Pacific Intelligence

Editorial

Thursday, November 07, 2013

This month's edition of Asia Pacific Intelligence carries a great deal of information on regulatory changes across our region, changes that might continue the process of opening up the hedge fund and fund industry generally to investors from across the world.

According to State St at least, this is something greatly to be desired among fund managers but for GFIA, in the hedge fund arena it all relies on the strength of the underlying markets. However, it clearly varies according to who you ask. Another study from BNP Paribas, found that Asian institutions aren't keen on eating Asian cooking, avoiding hedge funds because of issues around performance, fees and credibility.

Gottex has been busy this month and we cover their two joint ventures in the Asia Pacific region.

And what format will funds adopt in the newly regenerated Asia Pacific fund industry? Dechert's Angelyn Lim revisits her interview with us a year ago on the proposals for cross Asia fund passports and we report on Cerulli's and others' findings on the subject.

I also urge you to check out the hedge fund news round-up section which offers a comprehensive coverage of the hedge fund news in our region for October. Enjoy!
