Hybrid sukuk gaining popularity, says HSBC

Islamic perpetual bonds, a hybrid sukuk, are gaining popularity and more firms are expected to follow the move taken by Malaysia Airlines (MAS). The hybrid sukuk will be an attractive option to companies which have reached a certain debt-to-equity ratio level, remarked HSBC Amanah Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer (CEO) Rafe Haneef.
“It is just emerging as a concept and hopefully you will see the market trend move towards that,” he said. MAS was the first airline in the world to issue the perpetual sukuk to ease its debt burden………………………………………..Full Article: Source
