Carbon trading link to Europe risky: CMI

The chairman of the Carbon Market Institute says connecting Australia’s emissions trading scheme (ETS) to other markets is a good idea, but linking it to Europe is risky. The federal government on Tuesday scrapped the proposed $15 floor price for its ETS, which is due to start in mid-2015.
Instead, Australia’s scheme will be linked to the European carbon market from day one. Carbon Market Institute chairman Les Hosking says it’s a risky move. “The concept of linkages between markets is a good idea in the sense that we’ve got a patchwork of multiple markets and what we want is a global solution to emissions,” he told the ABC’s Inside Business………………………………………..Full Article: Source
