China July commodity imports likely fell sharply

China’s metal imports are likely to fall sharply in July as a seasonal lull in the construction season has coincided with a broad economic slowdown and a lack of opportunities to profit from trade arbitrage.
China is the world’s largest buyer of key industrial commodities and its order book is an important indicator of global demand. Customs officials will release July data Friday.
