U.K.’s cheapest way to 2050 carbon goal would limit new nuclear

The cheapest way for the U.K. to meet its goal of cutting emissions by 80 percent from 1990 levels over the next four decades would triple nuclear power generation, according to the government’s carbon plan.
It would cost the least to have 33 gigawatts of nuclear power, 45 gigawatts of renewables and 28 gigawatts of fossil fuels with carbon capture and storage technology fitted, according to a government statement.
