Hedge fund seeder Larch Lane in joint venture with investment advisor Fiera Capital

Fiera Capital Inc., the US affiliate of Canadian firm Fiera Capital Corporation, has entered into an agreement that will bring in the team of Larch Lane Advisors LLC and its current strategies.

The Larch Lane team is expected to join Fiera Capital on 1st September.

It will complement Fiera Capital's existing capabilities in alternative investing and bring in expertise in alternative investment management, risk management, fund accounting and firm operations, according to the announcement. Fiera Capital will become the adviser for Larch Lane's existing investment strategies.

Larch Lane will enable New York-based Fiera Capital to offer its clients a range of alternative investment solutions, including a liquid alternatives mutual fund, traditional funds of hedge funds and hedge fund seeding strategies.

Larch Lane's strategies are expected to add approximately $500m in assets under management to Fiera Capital, which manages $17.7bn.

Founded in 1999 by Mark Jurish, Rye Brook, NY-based Larch Lane Advisors creates customised and commingled alternatives portfolios, emphasising early stage investing through its fund of hedge fund portfolios and hedge fund seeding platform. It created another joint venture with Rothschild Asset Management in 2014 to create a liquid alternatives 40 Act fund. In 2012, it separated from parent company Old Mutual Asset Management and is now 100% employee owned.
