Crowdfunder hires Guggenheim's McClurg, launches VC index fund

Crowdfunder, an online platform for equity funding of early stage companies has brought on Steven McClurg to serve as President and COO. McClurg joined Crowdfunder after a career at Guggenheim where he was an investment strategist. McClurg told Opalesque during an interview at the Milken Global Conference, why he joined Crowdfunder - "As a strategist it is my job to find the best relative value in the market and that value has diminished in the public markets. That's not the case, however, in private markets which attracted me to Crowdfunder because they are providing a new kind of private financing."

McClurg says he thinks Crowdfunder is well positioned to bring the value of financing to small businesses that may not otherwise be able to access a network of angels and other investors. He's also invested in the company himself.

"There's a segment of the market - I call them Super Angels - who were owner operators of their own companies and now want to invest and help improve the company operationally because of their experience as owners. But it can be difficult for them to find companies and we provide a platform for that," McClurg says.

In addition to providing a platform for experience investors to source opportunities, the company has also launched what it calls the VC Index fund. The fund, which will work similarly to a venture fund will have a 10 year structure and provide investors with access to an index ......................
