Institutions find new options for impact investing

Investors are finding new opportunities for impact investing, and new ways to ensure their portfolios integrate financially material Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors, according to a recent Opalesque Radio interview with Daniel Wild, Head of Sustainability Investing Research & Development at RobecoSAM. Switzerland-based RobecoSAM is a pioneer in the Sustainability Investing field and has been tracking and developing ESG investment criteria since the 1990s.

"When we started to look at ESG early on, we were very convinced that these would be material factors that would not only influence the competitive environment for companies but also the investment outcomes," explains Wild in a conversation with Opalesque Radio host Sona Blessing. Since then, the firm has gone on to develop new products aimed at helping investors meet their risk/return expectations parallel to sustainability objectives, as well as environmental or social impact goals.

In the spring of last year, RobecoSAM launched a new impact investing platform, which includes an Environmental Impact Monitoring Tool. The platform leverages the firm's proprietary corporate sustainability database, which has also driven the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices since 1999, and caters to institutional investors seeking both societal and financial returns on their investments.
