Stelrox: The coming years will be good for the FX sector

The past few years have been tough for FX managers, but Buford Scott, managing partner at Stelrox, believes now is a good time for currency trading.

Stelrox Capital Management is a London-based emerging alternative asset manager with a focus on currency markets and $10m in AuM. The firm’s investment process is driven primarily by proprietary analytical computer models, which evaluate both quantitative and macro-economic fundamental factors.

Over his career, Scott has been involved in quantitative market modelling, he tells Opalesque. First as an option dealer, then as a proprietary trader and a quant manager. At Standard Chartered Bank, he started a quant trading group that over the course of 10 years grew $2bn in assets. He left in 2014 along with some colleagues to set up Stelrox in collaboration with C-View, which provided the FX management infrastructure and the regulatory cover. They have since focused on a portfolio of medium and low frequency FX strategies.
