Chance to bid for lunch with Neil deGrasse Tyson at STRIVE’s gala evening on Nov. 10th

STRIVE, a U.S. charity, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a gala in New York on November 10th .

STRIVE is also known as East Harlem Employment Services, and describes itself as an empowerment movement disguised as an employment agency.

According to an announcement received by Opalesque, those attending the gala will be able to bid for a lunch with Neil deGrasse Tyson. A renowned astrophysicist, commentator and host of Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey (a 2014 American science documentary television series) and Star Talk, a popular astronomy radio show, Tyson is the Director of the Hayden Planetarium at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in the American Museum of Natural History in New York. He also is the author of 10 books, the recipient of NASA’s Distinguished Service Medal and 19 honorary Doctorate degrees, and has 4.6 million Twitter followers.

He has volunteered to host a lunch for four at The Modern, the restaurant at New York’s Museum of Modern Art.

The STRIVE gala, which will honour Jeffrey Clarke, CEO of Eastman Kodak Company, Dee Dee Ricks, founder of RICKS Consulting Group, Brian Friedman, president of Leucadia National Corporation and Samuel Hartwell, co-founder of STRIVE, will be hosted by Ron Claiborne, weekend news anchor of Good Morning America.
