Irish Stock Exchange launches free listed funds portal for professional investors, plans UCITS portal

Ireland is playing its part in the evolution of the European alternative investment space; the country has become the second largest fund domicile in Europe, welcoming more and more alternative and UCITS funds (including many alternative liquid strategies), it holds 50% of European ETF assets, it has launched a new corporate structure for funds called the ICAV, and a regulated loan origination fund vehicle.

Furthermore, the Irish Stock Exchange (ISE) recently launched a new initiative called the ISE Fund Hub.

This is one of the latest portals that have sprung up over the last two or three years, that offer alternative investment managers the option to list their funds so they can be screened by registered investors.

The ISE Fund Hub was launched after the ISE had conducted some market research to determine the demand for more information on ISE-listed funds.

"The overwhelming feedback from managers, investor groups and consultants that we surveyed was that there was a substantial appetite for such an exchange-driven solution," Gerry Sugrue, vice president at the Irish Stock Exchange, said during the recent Opalesque Ireland Roundtable.
