Spanish fund of hedge funds returns almost 7% in last 12 months

The Sigma Fund Absolute Return, a global multi-strategy fund of hedge funds, has been awarded the Best Global Multi-strategy Fund prize at the Corporate LiveWire 2015 Global Fund Awards (UK).

The winners list will not be publicly available until the end of July, Elizabeth Moore, the Awards Director at Corporate Livewire, told Opalesque.

The fund is a global portfolio, diversified among six absolute return strategies, 15 managers and hundreds of positions, according to Altex Partners, the Madrid, Spain-based fund manager. Its performance over the last 12 months has reached 6.89%, with a volatility of 2.07%, lower than that of fixed income securities with an average maturity. It is attracting investors looking for an alternative to deposits and fixed income offering higher yields without adding to the volatility of their portfolios.

This Luxembourg-domiciled and listed fund has annualized 4% since its June 2003 inception, with a volatility of 4.7%, its only down year being 2008. The fund changed its name to Sigma Fund Absolute Return in May 2014.

Altex Partners acquired Alpha Value Management, an investment manager based in London, in 2008.
