New CTA aims to seize the natural gas opportunity

A new CTA/CPO called Timoneer Energy, based in Houston, Texas, is readying a fund that will take on the new natural gas market opportunity.

The management team, Brad King, CIO, Adam Stevens, Portfolio Manager and Meteorologist, Stephen Naehr, CFO and Risk Manager, and Nikhil Surana, Director of Research, met while working at Velite Benchmark Capital Management, a $1bn Houston-based gas hedge fund.

"The four of us have a great chemistry that we discovered together at our previous firm and we just saw an amazing opportunity, both in the trading environment and among the four of us personally to step out and become partners and create something that has long-term value and sustainability," Stephen Naehr tells Opalesque.

"The prospects in the natural gas markets are very robust at the present time," Nikhil Surana adds. "There is an opportunity for the market to make a significant move lower and higher within the next 12-18 months. The four of us are the best team to execute the process and strategy that we have developed and proven to be successful."

The Timoneer Energy Strategy should launch in April 2015.
