Sandler Capital sees rebound of cyclicals in 2015, healthcare and technology to grow (Part 2)

Cyclicals are expected to rebound in 2015 while sectors such as healthcare, parts of consumer, and technology will experience robust earnings growth, predicted Andrew Sandler, senior Managing Director at Sandler Capital Management.

Sandler made his predictions in an interview with Lyxor Asset Management’s Weekly Brief. He said that at some point during 2015, it is very likely that the prevailing market view would change again and cyclicals will rebound.

Sandler said, "In addition, we will be focused on what subcategories are performing better or worse as we believe there is likely to be meaningful bifurcation within cyclicals, and that there has been to some degree over the past year. More specifically, we would argue that, outside of housing, most U.S.-centric cyclicals have been fine. The disappointment has been primarily outside the U.S., including in Europe, Asia and Latin America."

He added that energy which was doing well overall, is now likely to contract for at least one year and maybe longer, while U.S. housing should slowly improve as labor market breadth improves. Going forward, he said his firm would watch such indicators as high yield markets, the yield curve, global PMI’s (Purchasing Managers Index), and other macro and industry data that may indicate a better environment for certain cyclical stock......................
